‘EMERGENCY LIFE SAVED THANKS TO SEAT BELT’
In a recent accident where a passenger bus overturned in Eskişehir, Soykan Kaya (32) who was lightly injured, was discharged from the hospital after treatment. Kaya, who stated that he came to Eskişehir to buy a car, said that the bus overturned at least 4 times. Explaining that he survived the accident with minor injuries because he was wearing a seat belt, Kaya said the following:
“I boarded from Alanya, came to Eskişehir for a one-day trip to buy a car. I was asleep at the time of the accident. I woke up when the car overturned. When I woke up, we were rolling over. There were 4 of us, and I was sitting at the back. When I came to my senses, no one was beside me when the accident was over. One person was thrown out of the window, a few others were thrown into the aisle. It was bad, people were in a very bad condition. There were people with severed ears, people lying motionless. There were children. I waited for a while, tried to help people. When no one came, I called 112 from my watch. I sent them my location. My seat belt was fastened, and I survived thanks to the seat belt. None of the seats next to me stayed in place. Everyone was thrown out. I stayed in my place, only got minor injuries from passengers hitting me. I buckled up, and really held onto life, I mean, thanks to the seat belt.”
